Working Collaboratively

October 2, 2015 @ 8:30 am - 12:30 pm

Collaboration is vital in organizations with aggressive goals to accomplish and complex problems to solve with tight deadlines. Collaborative work breaks down business silos, promotes thinking outside of the “usual suspects,” reaches critical business goals, improves work processes, and enhances work quality.

True collaboration is the co-creation of a shared work product. It results in a better quality product because decisions are reached using the best the entire team has to offer. This true collaboration is an attitude manifested through actions. Collaboration is useful when issues are too important to be resolved in a silo, when people want to improve working relationships with others, there is a desire to get insights from others who have a different perspective, and it is important to gain follow-through and commitment.

Working Collaboratively builds attitude and skill in more mutual ways of working that lead to commitment and results. It offers a concise set of easy-to-use tools to foster a more collaborative approach to projects and work assignments. The workshop is experiential, and uses a business simulation as a central learning method.

Learning Outcomes
By actively participating this ½ day session, teams and individuals will be able to:
1. Identify their personal strengths and growth areas related to mutual work
2. Explore and apply the three critical components that create genuine collaborative work
3. Use a practical, hands-on job aid to create an action plan for their next key project or undertaking.
