Millennial Engagement: New Game, New Rules

November 10, 2016 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

Today’s game is about talent, but at work we are sometimes locked in mindsets that made more sense a decade ago.

You probably notice subtle differences every day – differences in communication styles, work ethic, career outlook, expectations of bosses, retention factors, and what keeps people engaged in their work. And while this generational mix has potential for conflict, misunderstanding and even resentment — there are huge opportunities for productivity, creativity, knowledge sharing and marketplace advantage.

Gen Y (Millennials) arrived several years ago, and their impact is both broad and deep. As the digital native, random access, multi-tasking, high-expectation segment of our workforce, Millennials bring great promise and challenge as well. They are puzzled with phrases like “pay your dues” and “we tried that already.” They are inclined to speak up and out, and walk – not whine – when the workplace doesn’t meet their expectations.

And … are you ready for Gen Z? In the U.S. we now have a five-generation workforce, as Boomers and Silents postpone retirement, and their grandchildren come to work.

This session shares important, targeted information about the dramatic shift in workplace demographics, and what we can do to inspire, engage and stay in the game with our newer generations.
