Knowledge Sharing: Mind the Gap with Millennial Leaders

November 18, 2015 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Fifteen percent of Millennials in the workplace are in formal leadership roles. According to consulting firm EY, 85% of these promotions occurred in the last five years. Furthermore, in 2015, Millennials officially became our largest workplace generation. As a generation, Millennial leaders are serious, valued contributors filling our talent pipelines. Think again, if you believe Millennials are the managers of the past. They think, work and live differently. Many of them are responsible for teams, departments and organizations that resemble a 4-generation family reunion.

Join us to explore the myths and truths of Millennial managers, our newest generation of business leaders. We’ll investigate the knowledge sharing gap that perplexes many organizations – the gap between organizational legacy (“how we do it here”) and Millennial leaders who are unencumbered with past practice. Chaffing at the directive to do-things-like-they’ve-always-been done, the knowledge sharing gap is aggravating for Millennials and established workforce alike.

Are you looking for clues to bridge the gap and better prepare Millennial leaders for your organization’s talent pipeline? In this fast-paced session, Devon will share insights from The Learning Café’s latest primary research about Millennial managers. In 2012 – 2014, The Learning Café gathered the views of over 400 Millennial managers, their bosses, colleagues and team members about Millennials and how they lead. Devon will share a snap shot of Millennials as formal organizational leaders, how Millennials view their own leadership compared to the views of other generations, and what we should all know and do about knowledge sharing with our newest leaders.
